RODON Participates at the Diagnostic Competition

RODON by UpTime Solutions, Sweden was designated as the official winner of the DX Diagnostic Competition as it was presented by NASA AMES Research Centre, PARC (Palo Alto Research Centre) and Technical University of Delft at this year’s International Diagnostic Workshop DX 09 in Stockholm. The competition consisted of two industrial tracks and one synthetic track. A total number of 12 teams participated in one of the competition tracks. RODON was the only diagnosis algorithm competing in all three tracks.

This was the First Diagnostic Competition executed by NASA and PARC. The goal of this diagnostic competition is to initiate metrics on how to measure the performance of diagnostic algorithms in various disciplines and by this spur the further development of such algorithms. In order to expose the diagnostic systems to diagnostic scenarios as close to real life as possible, NASA and PARC established a satellite power generation, storage and distribution system test bed (EPS) with real hardware called ADAPT and a set of benchmark combinatorial circuits. A number of metrics and criteria were developed alongside with relevant weighting factors. They were used to evaluate and score the results achieved by the competitors. One team for the first industrial track and two other teams for the second industrial track and the synthetic track have scored better than the RODON team. The teams that have preceded RODON have benefited from previous funded experience with ADAPT or they have been part of the competition organizing committee and therefore they were not eligible for the prize money. This year’s competition was the first one and NASA intends to further improve and mature the test bed ADAPT.
